Noguchi Taiso: Returning to "Zero Form"

Weekly Online Practice | Saturdays at 1:15 pm ET

Join us for a two-hour weekly class into the principles of Noguchi Taiso. This is not a class on fixed form or technique; it is an invitation to rediscover the natural forces within your own body.

Through this practice, we aim to bring the body to “zero form.” By understanding and embodying our own physical structure, we exchange conventional movement patterns for fresh approaches—allowing us to move with greater ease, fluidity, and honesty.

What to expect:

The Foundation: We focus on the core principles of movement: the spiral, the wave, gravity, and the power of imagination.

The Practice: Re-examining everyday movements like standing and walking to find our own individual “voice” and practice.

The Intensity: This is not about physical strain, but about finding and reevaluating your own limits. It is a blend of physical practice and deep internal exploration.

Open to everyone: No prior experience in dance is needed—only curiosity. For professional dancers, it is an invitation to reevaluate the meaning of intensity and effort.

Preparation: Please have a yoga mat or a blanket ready for your comfort.

“I define Noguchi Taiso as a creation of one’s new self as nature within us... My whole being is laboratory (atelier), research material (canvas) and scholar (artist).”

Michizo Noguchi
